WHAT A WEEK!!! WHAT A TEAM!!! As Josh D. remarked to me later: “I’ve never seen anyone attract so many talented builders before!” Well, bamboo is my explanation… it has its own magical powers of attraction (as I should know, after 13 years!) that keeps people intrigued long after their first taste of it.
But seriously, I’m proud to work on the Bamboo Stage for the DoLab… it was the first such stage to be called “Bamboo” in this country, since 2008, and I want to keep making it better and better, year after year. If I’m not dropping jaws, then why do it??? So if you want to be part of THIS team, that ought to be your aim, too.
Our other projects were the Healing Sanctuary and Bamboo Soccer. Well, soccer was just a fun side project to see what would happen since I love “futbol” so much. Bamboo goalposts, festoon lighting all around, and some watchtowers on the sidelines so people can chill out and watch from elevated platforms.
The Healing Sanctuary was a 50’ diameter roundhouse where massage and other bodywork arts were practiced. Pluma was directing that space and she brought quite a few awesome things to deco it out and make it comfortable for all…This was actually the first time I stayed for the entire festival and it was worth every moment. This past year, in fact, is the first time I’ve bothered staying for nearly every festival… usually I just run away as soon as I’m done building J I’ve been asked oh so many times “Why do you do it if you’re just going to leave?” Hmmm… good question? I love building and designing but all the rest… well, let’s just say that I’m learning how to RELAX and appreciate the other side of life…
